About

Hi, I’m your Quilting Friend Emily, and I'm the heart behind Quilting Your Legacy.

My journey into quilting began by growing up in a fabric shop and sewing my first quilt at 10 years old, under the loving guidance of my grandmother at her fabric shop, Norton House Quilting, in Wilmington, Vermont.

For over 55+ years, Norton House stood as a beacon for quilters, and my grandmother made it her mission to oversee every stitch with perfection.

She taught me not only the art of quilting but the deep, abiding love for preserving stories, traditions, and connections through fabric.

Who I Am

I’m a mother, a widow, an ice cream lover, and a woman who has walked through loss and joy, heartbreak and healing.

I believe that you have the power to create something meaningful, one stitch at a time. Whether you’re sewing for love, healing, or the pure joy of it, I’m here to support you.

When my grandmother passed away in 2016, my grandfather shared her wish for me to continue her legacy.

It was a moment that changed everything for me.

Quilting Your Legacy was born out of this profound responsibility and love.

It’s more than a business; it’s my way of honoring her memory and keeping the flame of creativity alive for others.

I’ve faced moments of profound grief, losing my  life partner husband Nathan, to a sudden heart attack.

His love and presence remain with me, inspiring me to rebuild, grow, and share my story.

Quilting has been my solace, my therapy, and my way of connecting with others who understand the beauty and the pain of life’s stitches.

Why Quilting Matters

Quilting is more than fabric and thread; it’s a way to preserve memories, celebrate milestones, and honor the people we love.

Each project tells a story.

Whether it’s a 9-patch that reminds you of home or a heart block symbolizing resilience and love, quilting connects us to the past, anchors us in the present, and leaves a legacy for the future.

A Bright Future for Quilting Your Legacy

As I work toward these goals, I remain dedicated to building a vibrant community where quilters can share their stories, celebrate creativity, and stitch their legacies into something truly extraordinary.

Alongside my passion for quilting, I’m committed to being the best mother I can be—cheering on my kids in their sports, celebrating high school milestones, and creating lasting memories together.

Whether it’s through motorcycle adventures, hiking, or savoring delicious meals with my Guy/ best friend, I’m embracing the moments that make life meaningful.

Together, we can make the future of quilting as bright and enduring as the legacies we create.
