While in Houston, TX for my third Quilt Market I took notes of what I saw and felt while walking around, what I would call an adventure and a huge motivation.

In this blog post, I’m going to share what was bought and new quilting challenges and promotions coming your way!

Christmas Tag Plays with Wool Kit

A highlight of the show was the ability reorder from, Plays with Wool. I bought more of our most popular product from them, Christmas Tags patterns and kits. They have a new line of mini wool hangers called Wee Ones. They’re indeed wee for a tabletop or mantel measuring 3 1/4” x 8”. I didn't end up buying them but they were sure cute! We'll stick with the wall hanging pieces - see them all by clicking here.

I instantly fell in love with DIY Embroidery Kits from Canada. Their company is named Kiriki Patterns. I frankly HAD to buy the sloth kit. She has other animals too, such as hedgehog, blue jays, and tons more critters.

A huge selling point to me is that she carries a product line of, how-to stitch different embroidery stitches and the directions are printed onto fabric. The fabric is pre-printed with instructions and where to stitch marks. Totally up our alley! I’m going to place an order very soon. I enjoyed the young business owner’s energy and professionalism.

Purl and Loop – LOVE! Make your necklaces and earring. They sell the kits and hardware but without the floss or yarn, but that’s okay because I know we all have some laying around.

I ran into two pattern makers who have been to Norton House Quilting – how cool is that!?

 * Sue from Sweet Season Quilts

* Carrie from Carried Away Designs

I instantly fell madly in love with the wooden animals, from “sweet season quilts” and I bought four different patterns and kits (see photo above). Plus, she is interested in coming to teach classes! More to come on that this spring 2019.

Carried Away Designs

Carries color palette from Carried Away Designs is unique and breathtaking. Her wool applique is on wool with embellished by embroidery stitching. I believe she sells kits too. Did I mention how much I LOVE her color palette choices? See her website by clicking here.

Merry Mugs Ornament Kit
NEW BLUE gift card holder felted wool kits and patterns by Rachel’s of Greenfield.
Make them for the tree or gift giving. Each mug has an opening at the top and can be filled with gift cards or other small treasures. The size is approximately 3 3/4” x 4 1/8”. We have them in stock and will be making a sample soon!

The kit includes wool felt, embroidery floss and gold string plus precise patterns and illustrated instructions to make 6 mug ornaments. Colors are blue, red, green, gold, white, and black. Or you can order the pattern and use up your scraps or change the color from blue to grey or red – that’s the best part! Click HERE to see it

Pauline Rodgers
I met Pauline Rodgers! She wrote the book, “Quilt as You Go”. We sell her book like hot cakes! I enjoyed asking Pauline about her methods of the quilt as you go system, and she sold me on her concept of sashing with her tools. See the photo below because it’s hard to describe but what Pauline calls the “sasher collection” will easily iron the Bias folds or press in half for binding. You won’t burn your fingers because you’re using the tools to slide down the fabric to create the fold and then sew onto the blocks. See the book by clicking here.

Villa Rosa Designs we so kind and showed me their newest patterns and how old shops display their patterns. They're amazing and as they expand their patterns, so will we!

MORE nail files are on order! We pretty much sold out from last years collection, so, more is on the way in quilt designs no less!

I feel like I’m forgetting something, but I’ll update you in our newsletters if so.

NEW! We’re going to have a few different demos coming up at the shop. I’m going to try and do some live videos too via our Facebook page and Instagram page. Be sure to like our Facebook page and if you’re Instagram follow us to ensure you’re updated.

Happy Quilting and Making!
