🌸 6 Fresh $2 Quilt Patterns to Sew This Spring (April 2025 Villa Rosa Round-Up)
Spring is finally settling in, and with it comes that urge to open the windows, shake off the winter dust, and make something beautiful. That’s why I’m extra excited to share this month’s fresh batch of $2 quilt patterns from Villa Rosa Designs — all beginner-friendly, budget-friendly, and full of potential.
Whether you’ve got a growing stash of fat quarters, a jelly roll begging to be used, or a panel you’ve been saving for something special, you’re going to find a pattern in this mix that feels just right.
Here’s a closer look at all six April patterns — with fabric tips, size details, and ideas to make each one your own!
🧡 Butterfield Quilt (42" x 56")
Skill Level: Confident Beginner | Uses: 10 Fat Quarters + ½ yd Binding
Butterfield is built entirely around half-square triangles — and it’s such a soothing, satisfying sew. The design flows in soft zig-zags, and it looks especially gorgeous in high-contrast prints or gentle pastels. It’s also chain-piecing friendly, which means you can relax into the rhythm and enjoy the process (a good audiobook helps, too!).
Quilter’s Tip: Try pairing bold prints with coordinating solids to help the movement really shine.
❤️ Havenwood Quilt (62" x 62")
Skill Level: Beginner | Uses: (40) 2½" Strips or 3 yds + 1½ yds Background + ⅝ yd Binding
If you love a good jelly roll quilt, Barnum is for you! It’s strip-pieced, speedy, and full of personality. The layout is clean and modern, but it still feels cozy — and it looks amazing with batiks, ombrés, or rainbow palettes.
Feeling scrappy? This one’s also a great way to use up leftover strips from other projects!
💜 Cadott Quilt (54" x 63")
Skill Level: Confident Beginner | Uses: 8 Coordinated Prints + 2⅜ yds White + ⅝ yd Binding
Cadott is a color-lover’s dream. With space for 8 beautiful fabrics — from purples and blues to teals and greens — it creates a luminous patchwork that feels both modern and timeless. It’s also super stash-friendly if you’ve got fat eighths or ¼ yard cuts tucked away.
Color Play Idea: Try a warm palette (or even seasonal tones) to give Cadott a totally different feel!
💛 Dakota Quilt (36" x 45")
Skill Level: Beginner | Uses: 6 Fat Quarters + ½ yd Binding
If you’re looking for a quick finish or a sweet baby quilt, Dakota is just right. It uses only 6 fat quarters and goes together fast — great for gifting, donation sewing, or getting back into your quilting groove.
This pattern shines in flannel, novelty prints, or holiday themes. Try one for each season!
🐢 Turtle Soup Quilt (49" x 61")
Skill Level: Confident Beginner | Uses:
-
1¼ yd Theme Print or 1 yd Border Stripe
-
1 yd Sashing
-
⅜ yd Contrast
-
⅜ yd Background
-
½ yd Binding
This one made me smile the moment I saw it. Turtle Soup is perfect for those bold border stripes or theme fabrics you’ve been saving instead of cutting. You’ll frame the focal print beautifully and finish with simple, clean lines.
Try it with sea life, animals, florals, or even patriotic prints — it’s endlessly adaptable!
🌸 Window Boxes Table Topper (22" x 50")
Skill Level: Beginner | Uses:
-
(3) 12½" Panel Squares or 3 Fat Quarters
-
½ yd Frame
-
½ yd Border (cut 3½")
-
⅓ yd Binding
Window Boxes is one of those patterns you’ll come back to again and again. It’s perfect for spring decorating or a thoughtful handmade gift. I used floral fat quarters for mine, but you could just as easily pull panel squares or seasonal favorites from your stash.
Make one in spring florals, and another in festive reds and greens for December!
